This is the NEW FPV QUAD STEALTH RECONN ( BYO FPV Gear version for Pilots who have their own FPV camera, Transmitter/Receiver/Voltage Reg/high-gain-CloverLeaf Antennas x 2  - NOT INCLUDED) - the Full VERSION ELECTRONICA is on this LINK here - that all the Pro-Pilots are raving about -  Yes we have had this airframe in the hands of our Pro-Pilots fro 2 months under going real-world event filming -  ARF Electronica - The reconnaissance version - The idea being a small and  quite quad with the Full 1080p GoProHeroHD2 outfront - clear of props in the HD FOV - and the battery offset to the rear to keep the CofG centred.   The lens recommended is also the 2.8mm factory fitted for the best FOV for judging depth and height on FPV - The Stealth is a total package and the motors/ESC/Props and and Airframe are the perfect combination - add PARIS Sirius IMU control system = Hero ship.  The main difference between RECONN and ARMOUR versions is the wattage output of the motors and the mission weight.  Armour is a lighter ship 700g with smaller motors - Reconn sits at 1kg and runs the bigger 775kv motors at a high voltage and wattage.

Note: Props do not appear in the Video if the GoPro mount ≥ 115mm is used (this movie was shot on a shortened GoPromount)

Hero Features

  • Good stability in all indoor or outdoor conditions
  • Designed to Carry a payload = GoProHeroHD2 video/still camera
  • Quite - When operating the stealth outdoors - its so quite people dont even know its there - 5 Star neighbourhood rating - perfect for night flying or public parks

  • Weight fully assembled with Rx, PARIs , similar FPV gear to these photos(this is the BYO FPV gear version- so FPV gear is not included in this version), GoPro and GoPro housing  - Recommended LiPo  = 1075g
NOTE : Cannot be flown witha 3s -  With 4S it flies responsively - accelerates well - this 4s1600 40c LiPos ; or this 4S2200 40c for longer flight times or Nano LiPo
NOTE : 2 : It important not to fly LiPos which are too heavy - Quads fly well up to a certain weight per cm squared of Prop area then reach a tipping point and are hard to keep super-smooth and stable
NOTE 3 : If you have never flown an RC aircraft or a RCHeli/RC multicopter - then this aircraft is too advanced for you - > you will first need a SIMULATOR and an ARMOUR trainer first HERE

Requires/Excludes

  • Requires assembly - this is not a TOY - Requires the ability to use tools skillfully and patiently - total assembly and testing time = approx 3-5 hours
  • Requires PC skills - to get the full benefit you need to be able to use your PC or MAC well - install USB drivers - Read Forums - Read the Wiki - become part of the Scarab online forum
  • Requires prop balancing - Props and motors can be balanced to run silky smooth by the owner - this is an important skill you must learn - its easy - but takes 3-10 mins per prop to do well - its a matter of adding blade tape to balance the props when running at speed - trial and error process called dynamic balancing - props are spun up and balanced while turning/spinning.  Pilots who say they did not balance their props are just short changing themselves - The entire IMU will fly better and the bearings will last longer when everything is balanced dynamicaly - Use the Forums and YouTube to search for Prop balancing videos.  AP requires very smooth props for smooth video.
  • Excludes Radio control Tx/Rx ;Recommend Futaba 7C or Turnigy er9x(see gearlist page this site)  or HiTec Aurora 9.  For future upgradability choose a radio with a removeable RF module in the back like Futaba 10CAP(eBay)  or Turnigy 9x.
  • Excludes LiPo main power cell ; Recommend 4S1600 40c shorter fligths; get 3 or 4 of these amazing zippy LiPos - Also works with 4S1600 40c  4S2200 40C  for Longer flights
  • Excludes GoProHeroHDv2 camera - Highly recommended - massive improvement in sharpness over the v1
  • This VERSION kit - Excludes 5.8Ghz Transmitter & Receiver, plus CarbonBird FPV Camera ONLY - Custom 3 bladed Tx antenna - 4 Bladed Rx antenna - 1.5km ultimate range - 750m safe Ops Radius LOS - Some countries mandate shorter distances equating to the pilot visually seeing the aircraft. 5.8Ghz Ch1 -Ch8 -  (1)5705;(2)5685;(3)5665;(4)5645;(5)5885;(6)5905;(7)5925;(8)5945 - Specify PAL(50fps) or NTSC(60fps)
  • Excludes your FPV Ground-station 7" or 9" LCD monitor and Googles - see the Gearlist Page - scroll down to FPV
  • Requires a FPV 12v regulator to supply consistent power - regardless of the voltage of the 4S LiPo - We recommend these LF120ABV!
  • Excludes LiPo Charger ; Recommend iCharger ; We have tested heaps of B grade chargers - these ichargers are the only chargers on the market we actually recommend SAFE -100% - amazing balance charge and cell balancing - This is what happened to a customer who risked using another brand of charger without proper LiPo safety monitoring systems in the charger such as accurate cell balance and without thermal cutof protection and without a fire-proof bag.  Used correctly, attended -  LiPos are safe - used incorrectly they will burn at 700°C.
  • Exclude Quanum telemetry for individual cell monitoring - total voltage has caused the loss of many aircraft because it is primitive and archaic - You MUST know in real-time when the first cell dives below 3.4v - only Quanum can do this
  • Requires soldering skills - Excludes a temperature controlled soldering iron - Hakko 888
  • Requires RC Pilot Skills - Excludes flight SIM here
  •

Tips

  • Follow the building guide carefully - allow at least three days to complete the project. Measure twice - cut once.
  • MultiWiiCopters are nearly twice as efficient as a RC Helicopter providing the props are matched to the ESC and engines.
  • 6 x 10amps is 60amps continuous power (72amps peak if your 40C lipo can cope) this is massive on 4S - your HEX will be climbing like a interception rocket - You do NOT need 18Amp ESCs - it's a common mistake with multi engine ops - especially 6 engines to go past the humble 10Amp Turnigy ESC - these things are perfect - in the hover the ESC is running at about 3.5amps on a HEX. You don't need the extra weight of a HEX.
  • Recommended props are - 4S 9050 Triples with 65g 775kv CarbonBird motors available on this site to give a large amount of slow moving downwash. In the hover the throttle should be 1/3 to 1/4 maximum. The HEX is very powerful
  • Use a magnetic-balancer to balance all props statically; then run them individually to check they are centred true and the tipshave the same path; any vibration will reduce the effectiveness of the Wii gyro or anyother gyro.
  • Never screw/glue or bolt the Wii Motion+ to the board - use good quality FOAM TAPE. Make sure the wires to the WM+ are soft, curved and not tight.
  • For Aerial Photography do not use an ESC to power the Vcc line.  Use a seprate independant switching BEC and solder the Vcc and GND lines to the board. Select 5v.  Note the MCP1825S has a maximum Vcc of 6v.
  • Keep your PROPS OFF - not installed - until you are fully conversant/understand in full the functions of your Tx in full including TRAV (end Points), the arm and disarm procedures -  realise that for a noob skiping or out-of-order set-up steps or moving sticks, or even static -  PROPS may start at anytime without warning.  Never install props prior to calibration of the ESC and testing the gyro orientation, and arm/disarm testing of the board - YOU are responsible - make sure your actions and your Copter is safe - remove the prop -remove the risk.
  • Always maiden on default PIDs' - If the copter is not almost perfect on default PID's then DO NOT go straight to altering the PID's!  MultiwiiCopters require good quality ESCs such as HobbyWing® or turnigy Plush® (Not SuperSimple) then do full calibrations of all the ESCs, the correct timing set/programmed into the ESCs and lastly good quality wiring and soldering (not short 3.5mm press fit connectors) - Use FLUX PASTE to complete all soldered wires.

Safety in Australian Skies

  • Keep more than 30m from persons, choose an empty sports field for your first flights
  • Do not fly near pets, houses or cars
  • Never fly within 3nm of an airfield or above 400ft
  • Never install your props until after the Multicopter is fully tested and 100% correct without props. Engines can start suddenly and without warning IF YOU FAIL to understand how they work or skip any steps.
  • Set your Tx/Rx binding to low throttle 1/4 position so that if the link is lost the copter will descend slowly.
  • Always keep your Copter in line of sight for one pilot ops - FPV is only legal in AU with a buddy on a buddybox - 2 person FPV is 100% legal using the buddybox system below 400'.  See CASA Part 101 Regs
  • RC Flying is a privilege - please enjoy it.  Don't show off and don't get over confident
  • Home movies are fine, but in Australia professional paid photography or videos from an RC aircraft requires CASA Part 101 compliance, including exams and approved ops manuals and pilot competency tests by CASA official which will cost several thousand up front.
