Phantom/Drone 3 way video RC switch - This is a RC Rx slave device to switch between 2 or 3 12volt FPV cameras in flight - for example on a DJI Phantom 2 - use the GoPro and 2 other CarbonBird FPV cameras (one facing down one facing behind as a backing-up camera for example - or between a your GoPro live feed (gimballed level) and an FPV flight camera fixed forward. It requires one "free" RC Rx channel such as Ch9 or ch10 via CPPM bind on an X4R Rx. These switches are a special version which is 12v tolerant on the cam side.
This device is PLUG-N_Play - pre-programmed for a 3 position RC switch and operates at 5v (4.7-6.1v max) from the RC switch side. The video in/out side is common rail and can also handle 12v
MWC pro-tip - for Taranis make sure to set the page 6/12 MIXER for CH10 to a WEIGHT of 78
1 x video Switch - RC 3 way PWM 1100/1500/1900 uSEC signal - PCB Board as shown in photos above
WARNING - Device operates on 5.0v Vcc (shared with your RC Receiver Rx and Autopliot AIR32 etc) - DO NOT CONNECT 12v red power wires to the RC side of this device - only 5v to the RC AUX side PWM - only connect the yellow video wires and GND to the camera side - do NOT mix 12v/5v red Vcc wires as this will permanently damage any 5v cameras such as GoPro - you can connect 2 or 3 GoPros all at 5v - but you cannot mix red wires at different voltages on the camera IN/OUT side. Far safer to NOT connect any red wires from your 3 cameras to be safe.
Warning do not short pins or the PCB to Carbon Fibre CF - PCB must be insulated by tape or heatshrink (clear shrink is fitted/included)
Instructions for use
Connect this 3 way RC video switch to your RC receiver’s regular servo channel (usually ch7 or ch8) and control it from a 3 way switch on the RC Tx such as Taranis - connect the camera's signal(yellow wires) to the pins marked "~" - connect the camera's GND wires ; do NOT mix/join 5v and 12v red wires ever;
Question - can i switch between 3 x 12v cameras - YES ; the Vcc pins on the video side are common rail and provided ALL the cameras are 12v tolerant they can be mixed
Question - can i switch between a GoPro and another 12v camera - ONLY if you do NOT connect the red Vcc wires. then yes you can connect the signal wire (~) and the GND wires of different cameras with no problems.
video switch has 3 video inputs and 1 video output. Connection is made with 3 pin servo style connectors.
WARNING - DO NOT MIX 12v cameras with 5v cameras without FIRST disconnecting the red wire going to the 5v camera (GoPro)
