iPad control Mission Planner - This datalink mis-named "Ground Station" - is a mission planner - software is specially designed for iPad and the mission map planner shown is from an iPad (or PC laptop with different screen shots if used on PC) LOS assist or BVLOS flight (beyond visual line of sight Ops) with a Canbus enabled Naza, Phantom2 or a Wookong M using a recent iPad (see below)- please check your country rules FAA/CAA/CASA for compliance and rules or keep your aircraft in LOS line-of-sight <400ft altitude< 300m distance until sure. With this DJI datalink connected to Canbus in your Phantom 2 (see our hack below), you just need an iPad, then you can direct the drone to carry out the flight plan preset previously planned on the iPad itself (NO Mac or PC is required) and the iPad will use location services to establish where it is by using 4G map data, live - or; you can just tap the map and say "Go" or "return home" or hold-to-drag to move the drone. Be sure to plan "CLIMB OUTS" and "DESCENT" waypoints - otherwise the drone will only achieve that altitude at the end of the first and last leg and may hit a tree near you. Be sure to have your controller on hand, ready to toggle GPS/ATTi/GPS/ATTi/GPS to regain control at any time you see a collision risk. The software now only supports Bluetooth 4.0 enabled (newer) iPad devices (such as: the newer iPads, the iPad mini and the iPad 4)

Note Range is limited by Frequency traffic on 2.4 Ghz - in urban areas could be as low as 300m or in country areas 2km with good antenna placement - antenna must never point at each other - the bulk of the radio signal travel sideways from the antenna and are received from the "side" at the aircraft - if your antenna blow-back when flying away or are blocked or reflected by carbon (or the LiPo) the range can be reduced. Spend time carefully locating the antenna.

Team MWC Notes - the dji 2.4 BT datalink permits a mission plan to be flown LOS - fyi the BTU cannot be seen in iPad Bluetooth settings - BLE is activated via the APP itself - Connect the airside Tx to the Drone such as Phantom Canbus - and Power UP the Phantom FIRST - Connect the BTU to Datalink - then power the larger metal finned Datalink ground side ; the BTU show be flashing LED ; launch the DJI Ground Station App - it will scan - then when requested for the dji BTU password - enter 123456
Setup for Ops - Team MWC recommends you place the Ground-Side datalink on a high 2m tripod or a 3m wooden pole with the 5dpi whip antenna facing directly up to the sky - this will give the greatest range - never point the DJI 2.4 GS Datalink antenna end at the drone - as zero/nil power comes in or goes out the end of a 5 dbi antenna (opposite of a gun) most of the energy goes in/out the sides of this Antenna.
